System Function: Starfire

The blower motor is designed to operate whenever the ignition switch is turned on. The fan will operate at "LO", "MED", or "HI" depending on switch setting. The blower motor is connected in series with the fan switch and the blower resistor assembly. A 25-amp fuse, located in the fuse block, protects the heater electrical circuit. Air entering the heater distributor assembly is divided into two channels: through the heater core and/or through the heater by-pass. The ratio of heated-to-unheated air is controlled by the temperature door setting. Two additional doors (air-defrost and by-pass) are connected in series by a non-adjustable steel wire. When the air-defrost door is closed, the by-pass door is open and air is directed info the passenger compartment. When the air-defrost door is open, the by-pass door is closed and air is directed out the defroster and heater outlets. There is no separate ventilation system on Starfire models.
