REAR RIDE LEVEL CONTROL INACTIVE

SUBJECT

Rear Ride Level Control Inactive 

SITUATION

The vehicle rear ride height is lower than normal. The compressor for the rear height control is inoperable.

CAUSE

Water ingress into the trunk area fills the battery compartment. The relay for the electronic height control has failed due to this moisture ingress.

PROCEDURE

Locate the ride height control relay (1). Repair the terminal ends and install a new relay (P/N 61 36 8 373 700).

Wrap the new relay with one strip of dampening felt P/N 07 14 9 199 575 (1).

Relocate the relay as shown, and attach the relay harness to the rear harness with cable ties (1).

(1) One package of insulating strip 07 14 9 199 575 contains eight strips. Only one strip is needed per repair. For claims, submit the used quantity as a sublet; use sublet code #4.

WARRANTY INFORMATION

Covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle/SAV Limited Warranty when the "cause" of the moisture ingress into the trunk and relay is the result of defects in materials or workmanship of the vehicle.
