SUBJECT
Bluetooth Software (KISU Data) Update
SITUATION
The song title and/or album art does not update when streaming music from a 3rd party app such as Pandora or Spotify.
Improved KISU data (Customer Initiated Software Update) is now available for installation in these vehicles via the USB port.
Improved functionality for HU-H:
- Reconnection strategy
- 3rd party app metadata - album art and song title
CAUSE
The Bluetooth functionality does not meet customers' expectations.
CORRECTION
Update the KISU software.
PROCEDURE
- Duplicate the issue.
- Check the current I-level of the vehicle.
- If the I-level is 14-07-500 or higher:
- Connect the USB stick to the center console and follow the on-screen prompts.
- Do not proceed to the next step.
- If the I-level is 14-03-503 or lower:
- Program the vehicle using ISTA P 2.54.3 or higher.NOTE: Target I-level 14-11-505 or higher
- Connect the USB stick to the center console and follow the attached procedure to update the vehicle's software.
Always connect a BMW approved battery charger/power supply (SI B04 23 10 ).
- Program the vehicle using ISTA P 2.54.3 or higher.

Since the "work time" FRU allowance to be claimed under labor operation 84 99 000 is specified, a separate punch time is not required when this work is done in conjunction with performing Procedure step #4 (see below).

Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowance. Enter the Chassis Number, which consists of the last 7 digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Click on the "Search" button, and then enter the applicable flat rate labor operation in the FR code field.
If a vehicle control module or component was working properly and/or had no related faults stored prior to vehicle programming and it fails to program correctly and/or requires initialization, this additional work must be claimed with separate labor operations under the defect code listed above; refer to KSD2.
Repairs to address control modules and/or components with pre-existing conditions are not eligible to be claimed under the defect code listed in this bulletin.
