2. Disconnect the outboard joint. (Figure 2)
Figure 2
3. Disconnect the inboard joint. (Figure 2)
NOTE:- Be careful not to damage the oil seal or the end of the inboard joint with the pry bar.
- Do not pull on the driveshaft, or the inboard joint may come apart. Pull the inboard joint straight out to avoid damaging the oil seal.
• Installation
NOTE: Clean the areas where the driveshaft contacts the differential thoroughly with solvent, then dry them with compressed air. Do not wash the rubber parts with solvent.1. Apply the following grease to the contact area (b) of the outboard joint and the front wheel bearing. (Figure 3)
NOTE: The paste helps prevent noise and vibration.Lubricant Specifications (Figure 3)
Application Position Type Amount b M-77 assembly paste (P/N 08798-9010) or equivalent 3.0 g (0.106 oz) Figure 3
2. Apply the following grease, then remove the grease from the splined grooves (c) at intervals of 2-3 splines so that air can bleed from the intermediate shaft. (Figure 4)
Lubricant Specifications (Figure 4)
Application Position Type Amount d Molybdenum grease 2.0-3.0 g (0.071-0.106 oz) Figure 4
3. Install the inboard end (e) of the driveshaft into the differential (f) or the intermediate shaft (g) until the set ring (h) locks in the grooves (i). (Figure 5)
NOTE: Insert the inboard joint horizontally to prevent damaging the oil seals.Figure 5
4. Tighten the nuts in sequence. (Figure 6)
