Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Three Way Catalytic Converter:






WARNING: Before checking Three Way Catalytic Converter for damage make sure the housing is cool.

1. Loosen the 2 bolts from the Three Way Catalytic Converter to the exhaust manifold.
2. Loosen the 3 bolts from the Three Way Catalytic Converter to the exhaust pipe.
3. Remove both heat shields.
4. Remove both gaskets.
5. Install new gaskets.
6. Install heat shields and torque bolts to 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
7. Install catalytic converter side with 3 studs first, and tighten nuts to 33 Nm (25 ft lb)
8. Install 2 nuts and bolts from catalytic converter to exhaust manifold and torque to 22 Nm (16 ft lb)
