Purge Control Diaphragm Thermovalve

  1. Disconnect vacuum hose to purge control diaphragm valve and connect vacuum gauge to hose. Start engine. With engine coolant temperature less than 158° (70°C), vacuum should not be present. If vacuum is present, replace thermovalve.
  2. Warm engine until cooling fan comes on. With engine at idle, vacuum should be present at purge control diaphragm valve vacuum hose. If vacuum is not present, replace thermovalve.
