Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• A/C Service Station (ROB134APF)

• Extract the refrigerant using the (ROB134APF) (or succeeding model).

• Environmentally hazardous draining of refrigerant is an offense punishable by law.

• See notes, refer to => [ Refrigerant Circuit, Specialized Repairs ] Procedures.

• The previously used service stations can still be used. Refer to Volkswagen workshop equipment catalog.

• To prevent the entry of dampness all components of the refrigerant circuit which have been opened must be sealed with suitable plugs.

Removing

- Turn off all electric consumers.

- Switch off the ignition.

- Remove the key.

There is a danger of ice-up.

Refrigerant leaks out if refrigerant circuit is not discharged.

Refrigerant must be extracted before opening the refrigerant circuit. If refrigerant circuit is not opened within 10 minutes of extraction, pressure may form in refrigerant circuit due to evaporation. Extract refrigerant once more.

- Extract refrigerant using (ROB134APF).

- Remove the front bumper.

- Move the lock carrier into the service position. Procedures

- Remove refrigerant pipes/hoses at condenser and seal.






- Remove the bolts (12 Nm) - 8 -.

- Remove the refrigerant lines - 7 - from the connection and re-seal with a suitable sealant.

- Remove the bolts (5 Nm) - 1 -.

- Move the radiator to the rear.

- Remove the condenser - 2 - upward.

• Note the diagram for installing the clips for the stone chip protective molding.

- If equipped, remove the stone chip protective molding - 5 - by loosening the clips - 6 -.
