Tester, Connecting

Volkswagen offers various testers, for example:

• Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051)

• Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051B)

• Tester (VAS 5051/11A)

• Vehicle diagnosis and service system (VAS 5052)

• Diagnosis system (VAS 5053)

The operation of this tester is described in the respective operating instructions.

The following description is based on the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051).

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051)


• During a test drive you must always secure testing and measuring equipment on the back seat.

• These devices may only be operated by a passenger during a test drive.

- Plug the (VAS 5051/1) connector - 2 - or (VAS 5051/3) into the vehicle diagnostic connector.





- Switch the tester on- arrow -.





Tester is ready for operation when you can select between fields/buttons Guided Functions and Guided Fault Findings at the right of the display.

Depending on equipment and tester version, additional functions may be displayed, for example:

• Measuring Technique

• On Board Diagnosis (OBD)

Tester is not ready for operation.

- Switch on the ignition.

- Touch a field/button on the display to start the desired function.
