Battery, Disconnecting And Connecting
The Battery Monitoring Control Module -J367- will be called battery monitoring control module in the information that follows.
Battery -A- will be called battery in the information that follows.
Disconnecting
-- End the drive ready mode.
-- Switch off the ignition and electrical equipment.
-- Open the battery negative terminal cover above the battery monitoring control module -3-.
-- Loosen the nut -1- several turns and remove the battery terminal clamp with the battery monitoring control module -3- from the battery negative terminal.
-- Switch the ignition on.
-- Switch off the ignition and electrical equipment.
-- Place the vehicle key and other start authorization systems (such as smartphones) outside of the vehicle interior.
-- Use a multimeter to check that the 12 V vehicle electrical system is de-energized at the jump start connections.
Condition
- The voltage must be approximately 0 V. This determines if the vehicle electrical system is de-energized.
Vehicles for which it cannot be determined if the vehicle electrical system is de-energized:
-- Refer to HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM, DE-ENERGIZING .
-- Use a multimeter to check that the 12 V vehicle electrical system is de-energized at the jump start connections.
Condition
- The voltage must be approximately 0 V. This determines if the vehicle electrical system is de-energized.
Continuation for all vehicles
Connecting
Risk of damaging the positive and negative battery terminal clamps and of the battery terminals.
- The battery terminal clamps for the positive terminal and negative terminal must only be attached by hand and without force.
- Do not put any grease on the battery terminals.
- The battery terminal clamps for the positive terminal and negative terminal must be installed in a way that the battery terminal is flush with the battery terminal clamp or protrudes out of it.
-- Disconnect the connector -2-.
-- Attach the battery terminal clamp with battery monitoring control module -3- to the battery negative terminal.
-- Tighten the nut -1-.
-- Connect the connector -2-.
-- Switch the ignition on.
-- Open and close the door windows all the way.
-- Then, with the windows closed, pull the door window regulator switch until the relay audibly switches.
-- Check the convenience closing from the window regulator motors.
Condition
- When the "convenience function" is activated, the door windows must close without holding the window regulator button.
The following procedures are necessary so that the ESP indicator lamp turns off:
-- Establish drive ready mode.
-- Engage the position.
-- Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and to the right.
-- Check and clear the DTC memory using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tool.
Condition
- The ESP indicator light must go out.
