Preparations For Compressor And Pressure Line Leak Check

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Pneumatic Repair Set : VAS 6618 
• :VAS 6618/3 
• Digital Pressure Sensor :V.A.G 1397B 

• When an appropriate entry is made in the event memory, there is a prompt in"Guided Fault Finding"  to perform a leak check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
• Then the preparations for this leak test are described that must be carried out directly in the seat.
• Connection diagram with assignment of the pneumatic lines to the air cushions. Refer to CONNECTION DIAGRAM - PNEUMATIC SYSTEM .

Procedure 

Condition

• The backrest cover is removed. Refer to Backrest Cover, Removing and Installing  .
• In one of the test steps in"Guided Fault Finding"  , there is a prompt to connect the Digital Pressure Sensor :V.A.G 1397B  to the pneumatic line from the Driver Multi-Contour Seat Compressor -V439- / Front Passenger Multi-Contour Seat Compressor -V440-.

-- To connect, insert the pneumatic lines into the Pneumatic Repair Set - Exterior Connector 5x3 :VAS 6618/3  from both sides -A arrows-.

Condition

• To release, push the release rings -B arrows- and simultaneously remove pneumatic lines -C arrows-.

-- Disconnect the pneumatic line -1- to the Driver Multi-Contour Seat Compressor -V439- /Front Passenger Multi-Contour Seat Compressor -V440- at the marking -arrow-. Refer to PNEUMATIC SYSTEM, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING  .

-- Using a hose and coupling from the Pneumatic Repair Set :VAS 6618A  , connect the Digital Pressure Sensor :V.A.G 1397B  to the pneumatic line from the compressor -1-.

In one of the test steps in Guided Fault Finding, there is a prompt to connect the Digital Pressure Sensor V.A.G 1397B directly to the compressor.

Condition

• The bolts are removed from the front seat in the vehicle and the front seat is folded toward the rear with the connectors still connected. Refer to Front Seat, Removing and Installing  .

-- Disconnect the pneumatic line -2- from the compressor -1- at the following locations. Refer to PNEUMATIC SYSTEM, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING  .

Condition

• -a- = 160 mm

-- Using the line and adapter pieces from the Pneumatic Repair Set :VAS 6618A  , connect the Digital Pressure Sensor :V.A.G 1397B  to the pneumatic line -2- for the pump -1-.

-- Connect the pneumatic lines after the leak test. Refer to PNEUMATIC SYSTEM, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING  .
