Overview - Steering Column, Version 2

NOTE:
Always replace self-locking nuts.
Always replace corroded bolts/nuts.
Always replace the bolts and nuts, which are tightened with an additional turn.
- Instrument Panel Central Tube
- Shear Bolt
- Loosening and tightening. Refer to Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module -J764-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VERSION 2 .
- Right Bracket
- For the knee airbag
- Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module -J764-
- For vehicles with "Keyless Access" keyless locking and starting system
- Removing and Installing. Refer to Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module -J764-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VERSION 2 .
- Bolt
- 20 Nm
- Replace after removing.
- Note the tightening sequence. Refer to Installing - Tighten the bolts -1 through 4- one after the other to the tightening specification. .
- Left Bracket
- For the knee airbag
- Bolt
- 20 Nm
- Replace after removing.
- Bolt
- 20 Nm +90°
- Replace after removing.
- Steering Column
- Removing and Installing. Refer to STEERING COLUMN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- The steering column must be engaged on the instrument panel central tube mounting bracket when installing (assembly aid).
- There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Information.
