Fuel Delivery Unit/Fuel Level Sensor, Removing And Installing: Installing

Vehicles With Parking Heater:

-- When installing a new fuel delivery unit, the connection for the parking heater must be open. Refer to PARKING/AUXILIARY HEATER FUEL LINE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Replace the seal.

-- Attach the fuel lines -4- until it clicks into place.

-- Slide the fuel lines -3- onto the connection.

-- Push the slider -B- downward.

-- Check if both fuel lines are secure by pulling on them.

-- Be careful not to bend the floater arm on the fuel level sensor when inserting the fuel delivery unit.

-- At the same time turn and tilt the corresponding fuel delivery unit.

-- Install the dry fuel delivery unit seal -1- into the opening in the fuel tank.

-- Push the sealing flange -2- down against the spring force.

-- Bring the sealing flange into the installation position, and pay attention to the installation position. Refer to Figure.

-- Tighten the locking ring using the :T10202  .

-- Attach the fuel line -1- to the sealing flange until it clicks into place.

-- If equipped, install the fuel line -2- to the Metering Pump -V54- for the parking heater on the sealing flange. Refer to Fuel Line Installation: .

Further installation is the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Pull on the connector to make sure it is secure.

Vehicles With a Fuel Tank Less Than Half Full:

-- After installing the fuel delivery unit, fill the fuel tank with at least 5 liters (1.3 gallons) of fuel through the filler neck.
