Upper Control Arm, Repairing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Subframe Bushing Tool Kit: 3301 
• Press Plate: VW401 
• Press Piece - Multiple Use: VW412 
• Press Piece - Multiple Use: VW426 
• Wishbone Rubber Mount Assembly Tool: T10219 

Pressing Off 

-- Remove the upper control arm. For vehicles with a steel spring shock absorber. Refer to UPPER CONTROL ARM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITH STEEL SPRING SHOCK ABSORBERS .

-- Remove the upper control arm. For vehicles with air spring shock absorber. Refer to UPPER CONTROL ARM, VEHICLES WITH AN AIR SPRING SHOCK ABSORBER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Mark the position of the bonded rubber mount on the basis of the slot -arrow- with respect to the upper control arm.

-- Press out bonded rubber mount.

1. Press Piece - Multiple Use: VW412 
2. Subframe Bushing Tool Kit - Thrust Piece 4: 3301/4 
3. Upper Control Arm
4. Press Piece - Multiple Use: VW426 
5. Press Plate: VW401 

Pressing In 

-- Apply Installation Lubricant: G 294 421 A1  onto the outside of the bonded rubber bushing.

-- Press in the bonded rubber mount.

1. Press Piece - Multiple Use: VW412 
2. Bonded Rubber Bushing
3. Upper Control Arm
4. Wishbone Rubber Mount Assembly Tool - Tube: T10219/1  with the cutout upward toward the control arm
5. Press Plate: VW401 

-- Continue to press the inner core of the bonded rubber mount until the bead -arrow- slips out of the control arm.

2. Wishbone Rubber Mount Assembly Tool-Drift: T10219/2 
3. Upper Control Arm
4. Wishbone Rubber Mount Assembly Tool - Tube: T10219/1  with the cutout upward toward the control arm
5. Press Plate: VW401 

-- Install the upper control arm. For vehicles with a steel spring shock absorber. Refer to UPPER CONTROL ARM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITH STEEL SPRING SHOCK ABSORBERS .

-- Install the upper control arm. For vehicles with an air spring shock absorber. Refer to UPPER CONTROL ARM, VEHICLES WITH AN AIR SPRING SHOCK ABSORBER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
