Intake Manifold Upper Section, Removing And Installing: Removing
Read the safety precautions before starting. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
Always replace the combustion chamber Teflon® seal and the O-ring must when a fuel injector is removed. Refer to FUEL INJECTOR SEALS, REPLACING .
Sealing ring -Item 4- 4 must also be replaced at fuel injectors for cylinders 1, 3 and 5.
If fuel rail is removed, fuel injector spring elements -arrow- must be replaced.
Note the following whenever working inside the engine compartment due to limited space:
- Route all lines and cables in their original locations.
- Make sure that there is sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.
-- Unclip the cover strip off the ignition wiring harness in direction of -arrows- and move it forward from the tabs -A-.
-- Place the :T10118 on the release button -arrow- and carefully pull down all connectors of the Ignition Coils With Power Output Stage --.
-- Press the cable duct upward using a screwdriver and move the connectors to the side.
-- Disconnect the connectors -1-, remove the intake hose -2- and disconnect the connecting hose -3- for the crankcase ventilation from the cylinder head cover.
-- Remove the lines -arrows- from the intake manifold upper section.
-- Unscrew mounting bolt for intake manifold support at rear -1-.
-- Remove the bolts from the intake manifold front support -2-.
-- Remove the intake manifold upper section/intake manifold lower section bolts.
-- Remove the intake manifold upper section and lay it on a suitable surface.
Cover the intake channels in the lower section of the intake manifold with a clean cloth.
