Engine, Securing On Engine And Transmission Holder

Procedure

Vehicles from 07/2010: 

Fig 1: Disconnecting Connector For Wiring To Air Conditioning Compressor Clutch Solenoid

-- Remove the ribbed belt from the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor, refer to RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, RIBBED BELT FOR AUXILIARY COMPONENTS .

-- Remove the A/C compressor, refer to Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor .

All Vehicles: 

NOTE:

Place a cloth underneath to soak up any escaping power steering fluid.

-- Remove the threaded connector -arrow-.

-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set VAS 6122.

WARNING:

Risk of accident!

  • The engine may be transported only in the manner described and without the transmission.

-- Engage the Engine Sling 2024A on the engine lifting eyes and on the Shop Crane VAS 6100 with Lift Arm Extension VAS 6101 as shown in the illustration.

NOTE:

To be aligned to the center of gravity of the engine assembly, the hole rails of the lifting hook must be inserted as shown in the illustration.

WARNING:

There is the risk of an accident.

  • Lifting hooks and alignment pins on the engine sling must be secured with locating pins -arrows-.

-- Tension engine slightly with shop crane, do not raise.

-- Remove the left and right bolt -2- from the engine mount.

NOTE:

Ignore item -1-.

-- Disconnect the left and right connector -3- from the Left Electrohydraulic Engine Mount Solenoid Valve -N144- / Right Electrohydraulic Engine Mount Solenoid Valve -N145-.

NOTE:

Ignore items -1 and 2-.

-- Remove the Articulated Joint Support VAS 6131/13-7 from the engine.

-- Raise engine from engine carrier.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the left engine support.

Vehicles from 07/2010:

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the left engine support with the A/C compressor bracket.

All Vehicles: 

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the right engine support.

-- Secure the starter on the engine.

-- Tighten the engine with Engine/Transmission Holder - Universal Mounting VAS 6095/1 and Engine/Transmission Holder - V6 FSI Bracket VAS 6095/1-5 to 40 Nm on the Engine And Transmission Holder VAS 6095 as shown in the illustration.
