Fill Quality, Checking

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

-- Open the coolant reservoir cap.

-- Position the Cooling System Tester: VAG1274B  with the Cooling System Tester - Adapter: VAG1274/8  on the coolant reservoir.

-- Generate approximately 1.0 bar (14.5 psi) pressure using the cooling system tester hand pump.

-- Check the coolant level inside the reservoir.

CAUTION:

There are no leaks in the coolant system if the coolant level goes down by only maximum 25 mm. If the level goes down significantly or if the coolant evaporates from the reservoir, this means there are air bubbles in the coolant system.

Coolant Level OK

-- Perform a road test until the engine operating temperature is reached.

-- Check the coolant level.

The Coolant Level Significantly Goes Down

-- Drain the coolant system. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM, EMPTYING .

-- Fill the coolant system. Refer to Filling .

-- Check the coolant freeze point. Refer to FILL QUALITY, CHECKING .
