Driver Front Seat Module (DSM): Installation

All vehicles 

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  2. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Using a diagnostic scan tool, complete the PMI process for the DSM or SCMB (front passenger seat control module) following the on-screen instructions.

    Vehicles with heated/ventilated seats 

  3. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Using a diagnostic scan tool, complete the PMI process for the SCME following the on-screen instructions.

    All vehicles 

  4. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Operate the seat in all directions through the full range of travel to set soft stops and avoid a premature stopping point occurrence after the vehicle is returned to the customer.

    Vehicles with memory pedals 

  5. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Operate the pedals in all directions through the full range of travel to set soft stops and avoid a premature stopping point occurrence after the vehicle is returned to the customer.

    Vehicles with memory steering column 

  6. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Use the steering column control switch to set the soft stops as followed:

    1. Move the column rearward until it reaches the end of travel and hold the switch for 2 seconds after the column has reached the end of travel.
    2. Move the column in the same direction until it reaches the end of travel again and hold the switch for 2 seconds after the motor has reached the end of travel. This clears any unintended soft stops.
    3. Move the column forward until it reaches the end of travel and hold the switch for 2 seconds after the motor has reached the end of travel.
    4. Move the column in the same direction until it reaches the end of travel and hold the switch for 2 seconds after the motor has reached the end of travel. This clears any unintended soft stops.
    5. Repeat the sequence moving the column up and down.
