Pinpoint Test E : DTC U3003:16: Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Lincoln Navigator and 2017 Ford Expedition. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Refer to Trailer/Camper Adapter , for schematic and connector information.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The TBC module requires an operating voltage that is between 9 and 16 volts. The TBC module receives this voltage from the BJB. The TBC module has a single ground circuit. Excessive resistance or an open in one or more of these circuits, a discharged battery or a inoperative charging system results in the TBC module setting a DTC. If the voltage drops below 8 volts the TBC module disables the trailer brake output and then shuts down.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
| DTC | Description | Fault Trigger Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| U3003:16 | Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Below Threshold | This DTC sets in continuous memory and on-demand when the TBC module detects that battery voltage has dropped below 9 volts while not braking. |
Possible Causes
- Fuses
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- TBC module
Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks
- Make sure the vehicle battery terminals and cables are free of any corrosion and other contaminants.
- Make sure the vehicle battery terminals are tightened to their correct torque specifications.
- Make sure BJB fuse 18 (30A) is OK.
