Pinpoint Test L: The Traction Control Switch Indicator Is Always On
- L1 CHECK THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE FOR DTCs
- Connect the scan tool.
- Key in ON position.
- Using the diagnostic tool, retrieve and document any continuous DTCs.
- Are DTCs retrieved?
Yes : GO to the ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX .
No : GO to L2.
- L2 CHECK THE LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE (LCM) OUTPUT
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: LCM C2145a.
- Key in ON position.
- Does the traction control switch indicator continue to illuminate?
Yes : REPAIR circuit 961 (WH/PK) for a short to voltage. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
No : GO to L3.
- L3 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION WITH THE LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE (LCM)
- Key in OFF position.
- Connect: LCM C2145a.
- Key in ON position.
- Using the diagnostic tool, check the communication with the LCM.
- Does the diagnostic tool communicate with the LCM?
Yes : GO to L4.
No : REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
- L4 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION WITH THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
- Using the diagnostic tool, check the communication with the instrument cluster.
- Does the diagnostic tool communicate with the instrument cluster?
Yes : GO to L5.
No : REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
- L5 CHECK THE ABS TRACTION CONTROL AVAILABLE PID
- Using the diagnostic tool, check the state of the traction control available PID.
- Is the PID state OFF?
Yes : INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE . TEST the system for normal operation.
No : GO to L6.
- L6 CHECK FOR CORRECT LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE (LCM) OPERATION
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect all the LCM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- spread terminals.
- Connect all the LCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes : INSTALL a new LCM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
No : GO to L7.
- L7 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- spread terminals.
- Connect the instrument cluster connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
