Overview - Selector Mechanism

WARNING:

Move the selector lever into "P" and set the parking brake before working with the engine running.

  1. Selector Lever Handle
  2. Selector Mechanism with Selector Lever Cable
    • With a permanent circuit board for the selector mechanism
    • With integrated Selector Lever -E313- with Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module -J587-, Tiptronic Switch -F189-, Selector Lever Park Position Lock Switch -F319- and Shift Lock Solenoid -N110-.
    • Check using Guided Fault Finding  . Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
    • The Selector Lever -E313- with the Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module -J587-, Tiptronic Switch -F189-, Selector Lever Park Position Lock Switch -F319- and Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- can only be replaced completely with the selector mechanism. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Selector lever cable can only be replaced with the selector mechanism. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Perform selector mechanism emergency release. Refer to EMERGENCY RELEASE FROM P .
    • Removing and installing. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Do not lubricate the selector lever cable
  3. Bolt
    • 4 Nm
    • For attaching the selector mechanism to the selector housing
    • Quantity: 4
  4. Nut
    • 8 Nm
    • Quantity: 4
    • For selector mechanism to body
  5. Selector Housing
  6. Cable Mounting Bracket
    • For selector lever cable
  7. Bolt
    • 8 Nm +90° turn
    • Replace after removing
    • For attaching the cable bracket to the transmission
    • Quantity: 3
  8. Bolt
    • 10 Nm +90°
    • Replace after removing
    • For the transmission shift lever
  9. Gearshift Lever
  10. Lock Washer
    • For attaching the selector lever cable to the cable bracket
    • Always replace
      NOTE:

      The lock washer fit very tightly on the cable bracket. If necessary, remove the cable bracket and selector lever cable from the transmission. Refer to Removing .

  11. Bolt
    • 13 Nm
    • Selector lever cable adjusting screw
