Engine Oil, Checking Level

Please observe the following:

-- After stopping the engine, wait for at least 3 minutes for the oil to flow back into the oil pan.

-- Pull out oil dipstick and wipe it with clean rag. Insert the dipstick and push it all the way down.

-- Pull out dipstick again and read oil level.

NOTE:

The oil level must always be in the A range at the delivery inspection.

If the dipstick appears as illustrated:

A - Oil must not be topped off.

B - Add oil. This will cause the oil level to be within the -A- range.

C - Add oil. It is sufficient when oil level is in area -B- (grooved field).

Damage to the catalytic converter can occur if the oil level is above the -A- range.

-- When oil level is below marking -C-, top off with oil to marking -A-. For the correct oil to use, refer to Maintenance, Diagnosis .
