Receiver/Dryer, Removing And Installing, SHOWA

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Removing 

NOTE:

The receiver/dryer with dryer cartridge is mounted on the right or left side on the condenser depending on the engine type.

Under certain conditions, receiver/dryer with dryer is no longer to be replaced after each time the refrigerant circuit is opened. Refer to [For transmission(s) 02E, 09M] Component Location Overview - Electrical Components or [For transmission(s) 02Q] Component Location Overview - Electrical Components in ELSA.

-- Note safety precautions. Refer to HANDLING REFRIGERANT .

-- See notes. Refer to WORKING ON THE REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .

-- Extract refrigerant using the A/C Service Station VAS6007A, only then open the refrigerant circuit. See notes. Refer to OVERVIEW - COMPONENTS OUTSIDE OF PASSENGER COMPARTMENT .

The receiver/dryer is installed on the right side of the condenser

-- Move the lock carrier into the service position. Refer to LOCK CARRIER .

-- Remove the air guide -1-.

-- Unhook the mount -2-.

WARNING:

Danger due to refrigerant coming out under pressure.

Danger of frost bite to skin and other parts of the body.

  • Extract the refrigerant and immediately open the refrigerant circuit after that.
  • If the refrigerant was extracted more than 10 minutes in the past and the refrigerant circuit was not opened, extract the refrigerant again. Pressure in the refrigerant circuit is caused by evaporation.

-- Remove the bolts -3-.

-- Remove the receiver/dryer with the dryer -1- upward.

The receiver/dryer is installed on the left side of the condenser

-- Remove the bumper. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

-- Remove the air guide -1-.

-- Remove the bolt -2- and the clamp.

WARNING:

  • Extract the refrigerant and immediately open the refrigerant circuit after that.
  • If the refrigerant was extracted more than 10 minutes in the past and the refrigerant circuit was not opened, extract the refrigerant again. Pressure in the refrigerant circuit is caused by evaporation.

-- Remove bolts -1- and pull receiver/dryer with dryer upward and out.

Installing 

-- Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this, note the following:

-- First tighten the bolts -1- to 4.2 Nm ± 0.7 Nm and then tighten the bolt -2-.

-- Make sure the seals fit correctly when installing the receiver/dryer.
