Engine And Transmission, Separating

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Separate the Transmission from the Engine 

Requirement 

-- Remove the starter, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Vehicles with DSG® transmission: remove the coolant hoses from the transmission fluid cooler and seal the openings.

-- Disconnect and free up all electrical connections from the transmission to the engine.

-- Secure the transmission using the Engine Sling 2024A to the shop crane, but do not lift the engine.

-- Remove the upper bolts connect the engine and transmission.

-- Before removing the last connecting bolts, support the transmission with the shop crane.

-- Remove the lower bolts connecting the engine and transmission.

-- Separate the transmission from the engine; when doing this, guide the transmission.

Assembling 

Assembly is performed in reverse order. Engine/transmission tightening specification, refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
