Transmission Fluid Level, Checking And Filling: Checking

-- Turn off the engine.

The transmission fluid temperature must not be more than approximately 30°C (86°F) at the start of the test.

-- Connect the tester and move through the selections until it is ready for operation. Refer to VEHICLE DIAGNOSTIC TESTER, CONNECTING .

-- Press the right button Guided Functions  .

-- Select the vehicle, the transmission and check ATF level  .

-- Press the →  button.

-- Start the engine.

-- Lift the vehicle.

-- Place a drip tray under the transmission.

-- Press the →  button.

If the test temperature is 35 to 45°C (95 to 113°F):

-- Remove the plug from the oil pan.

The fluid flows out of the overflow tube.

If fluid continues to drip out of hole: 

The fluid does not need to be topped off.

-- Install and tighten the plug with a new seal to 27 Nm. The level check is now completed.

If no fluid drips out of the hole: 

-- Fill with transmission fluid.
