Engine Support Insulators: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Ford Econoline, 2008 Ford E450 Super Duty, and 2008 Ford Cutaway. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Both engine support insulators 

  1. Position the engine support insulator and install the 4 bolts.
    • Tighten to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).
  2. LH engine support insulator 

  3. Install the EOP switch.
    • Tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb-ft).

  5. Connect the EOP switch electrical connector.

    Both engine support insulators 

  7. Lower the engine and remove the special tools.
  8. Install the 4 engine support insulator-to-crossmember nuts.
    • Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
  9. NOTE: Do not reuse the O-ring seal.
  10. Install a new O-ring seal and the heater outlet tube.
    • Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine coolant prior to installation.

  12. Hand-tighten the heater outlet tube upper stud and install the lower stud.
    • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  14. Connect the oil fill tube to the RH valve cover.

  16. Install the oil fill tube support bracket bolt.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

  18. Install the transmission-to-engine bolts.
    • Tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).

  20. Install the shield and the retainers.

  22. Install the intake manifold. For additional information, refer to Intake Manifold .
  23. Install the engine cover. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION article.
  24. Install the engine cooling fan and fan shroud. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
  25. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
