Transmission Oil Pump: Removing

-- Loosen the left front wheel bolts.

-- Raise the vehicle and remove the left front wheel.

-- Remove the noise insulation, refer to DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .

-- Remove the left front wheel housing liner, refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Place the Used Oil Collecting And Extracting Device VAG1782 under the transmission.

In regard to "contaminated oil", also observe the information on changing the oil filter, refer to GENERAL REPAIR INFORMATION => When To Change the Transmission Oil Filter .

-- Remove the oil drain and check plug -arrow- and drain the oil.

A plastic overflow tube is located in this hole (with a 8 mm hex socket head, tightening specification: 3 Nm). Its length determines the oil level in the transmission.

-- Remove this overflow tube and drain the rest of the oil.

-- Tighten the overflow tube to 3 Nm.

-- Replace the seal -arrow- on the plug.

-- The Used Oil Collecting And Extracting Device VAG1782 remains under the transmission.

-- Remove the oil pump cover bolts -arrows- and the cover -A-.

There is still oil in the oil pump cover.

-- Remove the oil pump bolts -arrows- and the pump -1- from the alignment pins and pull the input shaft from the pump.

Remove the top bolt using the with the Special Wrench, Long Reach T10054.
