Battery, Disconnecting And Connecting: Connecting

CAUTION:

Observe the information regarding the threaded connection of the battery terminals. Refer to BATTERY POST/TERMINAL 

NOTE:

After connecting the battery and switching the ignition on, the ASR/ESP Control Lamp -K155- lights up continuously. The ASR/ESP Control Lamp goes out automatically if a straight distance is driven at 9 to 13 mph (15 to 20 km/h). This activates the Steering Angle Sensor -G85-.

-- Attach the positive cable to the battery positive terminal and tighten the clamp -2- to the tightening specification given in the overview. Refer to BATTERY IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT OVERVIEW .

-- Attach the ground cable to the battery negative terminal and tighten the clamp -1- to the tightening specification given in the overview. Refer to BATTERY IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT OVERVIEW .

-- Close the cover -1- on the battery jacket.

-- After connection, perform the work steps listed in the table.



CAUTION:

Observe the information regarding the threaded connection of the battery terminals. Refer to BATTERY POST/TERMINAL .

NOTE:

After connecting the battery and switching on the ignition, the ASR/ESP Control Lamp -K155- and Electro-mechanical Power Steering Indicator Lamp -- light up continuously. The indicator lamps switch off automatically after driving straight ahead at 15 to 20 km/h. This activates Steering Angle Sensor -G85-.

-- Connect the battery terminal clip of the positive wire -2- to the positive terminal of the battery and tighten the bolt to the tightening torque.

NOTE:

Turn positive cable/terminal in driving direction.

-- Connect the battery terminal clip of the ground wire -1- to the negative terminal of the battery and tighten the bolt with the required tightening torque. Refer to BATTERY IN LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT OVERVIEW .

-- Close the terminal cover -arrow-.
