Shift And Selector Cables Overview: Notes

NOTE:

Lubricate the bearing areas and the sliding surfaces. Grease allocation.

  1. Gear Shift Unit
  2. Sliding Shoe
  3. Relay Lever
    • Made of plastic.
    • Installed position, refer to Fig 5.
    • Remove and install together with the cable retainer (-item 4-).
    • To install, lubricate, refer to Figure.
    • Adjust the shift mechanism after installing, refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
    • On the gear shift unit, disconnecting and connecting, refer to Figure.
  4. Cable Retainer
    • For attaching the selector cable to the relay lever.
    • Adjust the shift mechanism after installing, refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
    • Do not interchange, the cable locking mechanisms for the selector cable to relay lever and the shift cable to the shift lever are different.
    • Removing from the selector cable, refer to Fig 6.
    • Allocation, refer to Fig 2.
    • Removing from the relay lever, refer to Figure.
    • Pressing onto the relay lever, refer to Figure.
  5. Shift Lever, Transmission
    • Install so that the master spline aligns with shift shaft, refer to Fig 3.
    • To install, lubricate, refer to Fig 4.
    • Installed position, refer to Fig 5.
    • Adjust the shift mechanism after installing, refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
  6. Nut
    • 23 Nm
    • Replace after removing
    • Self-locking
  7. Cable Retainer
    • For attaching the shift cable to the shift lever.
    • Adjust the shift mechanism after installing, refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
    • Do not interchange, the cable locking mechanisms for the selector cable to the relay lever and for the shift cable to the shift lever are different.
    • Allocation, refer to Fig 2.
    • Disconnect from the shift cable, refer to Fig 6.
  8. Lock Washer
    • Removing, refer to Fig 7.
    • Replace after removing
  9. Lock Washer
    • Be careful not to damage the cables when removing them
    • Replace after removing
  10. Selector Cable
  11. Shift Housing
  12. Lock Washer
    • Be careful not to damage the cables when removing them
    • Replace after removing
  13. Shift Cable
  14. Cable Bracket
    • Made of plastic.
  15. Bolt
    • 20 Nm
    • Quantity: 3
    • For attaching the cable bracket to the transmission
  16. Grommet
    • Cable mounting bracket to transmission
    • Quantity: 3
  17. Spacer
    • Quantity: 3
  18. Clip
    • For the relay lever

These holes have different diameters.

Cable Retainer for: Dimension "a"
-1- Shift cable to shift lever 8.5 mm
-2- Selector cable to relay lever 10 mm

-- When positioning the transmission shift lever, make sure the tooth gap -arrow A- is placed over the missing selector shaft teeth -arrow B-.

NOTE:

Selector Lever

The relay lever fits into the sliding rail on the transmission selector lever via the sliding shoe -arrow-.

-- Pull the locking mechanism all the way forward the direction of -arrow 1- and lock it in the direction of -arrow 2-.

-- Remove the cable -B- from the cable retainer -A-.
