Transmission Code Letters, Reading
The transmission code letters are on the transmission at least in two different locations.
On the transmission near the selector lever cable -two arrows-.
If these cannot be read or are on the head, the transmission code letters can also be read under the left subframe mount bracket.
To read the transmission code letters under the console directly from the transmission, the engine and transmission must be supported. The left subframe mount bracket -A- must be removed. Lower the engine/transmission just enough until it is possible to slide the bracket toward the rear. If lowered further, the pendulum support could be damaged. After being assembled, the selector lever cable must be adjusted, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .
Perform the following work:
-- Remove the air filter housing.
- Vehicles with Gasoline Engine, refer to [For engine(s) CCTA,CBFA] Removal and Installation .
- Vehicles with Diesel Engine, refer to [For engine(s) CJAA] Removal and Installation .
-- Remove the battery and the battery tray -arrows-, refer to Removal and Installation .
Mount the Engine Support Bridge10-222A and support engine/transmission. Do not lift up yet.
-- Remove the bolts -1- and -2- from the bracket -A-.
The bolts must be replaced.
-- Then lower engine/transmission slightly over Engine Support Bridge10-222A spindles until the bracket can be removed.
In most cases, 2 turns on the spindle are enough to remove the bracket -arrow-.
After reading the transmission code letters, re-assemble in reverse order of removal.
-- Follow all instructions.
-- Replace all the bolts from the left subframe mount.
-- Install all the new bolt first hand-tight.
-- Attach the bracket -A- to the transmission using the bolts -1- and -2-, refer to TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .
-- After installing the bracket, always adjust the selector lever cable, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .
