Transmission Fluid Level, Checking And Adding

Use the transmission fluid available as a replacement part.

Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required 

Requirements 

Checking 

-- Connect the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system and identify the vehicle in Guided Functions  .

-- Select DSG transmission  .

-- Select Check Fluid Level  .

NOTE:

Let the transmission cool down if the oil temperature is higher than 45 °C (113 °F).

The engine is idling and the selector lever is in the >>P<< position.

-- Remove the drain plug.

Up to transmission production date "September 20, 2004", transmissions with two plugs were installed.

It is important to not switch the plugs. Remove the plug -A- only, near the pendulum support

Transmissions installed after September 20, 2004, have only one plug -A-.

-- Always replace the seal -arrow- on the drain plug.

NOTE:

Even if the level of the transmission fluid is too low, a small amount of transmission fluid will flow out of the overflow tube, because it fills during operation.

-- Let the excess fluid drain.

-- Install the drain plug with a new seal as soon as all the fluid has drained out (it starts to drip).

-- If no transmission fluid comes out, then fill.

Adding 

-- Install the adapter for oil filling VAS 6262 A -A- into the adapter hole hand tight.

-- Fill with 1 liter of transmission fluid.

Shake the bottles before opening.

-- Install the oil filler adapter VAS 6262 to the quick release coupling and check:

If fluid flows out of the adapter hole:

Fluid must not be topped off.

-- Let the excess fluid drain.

-- As soon as the fluid has run out (it begins to drip), remove the adapter for oil filling VAS 6262 A and install the plug with a new seal.

If no fluid flows out of the adapter hole:

-- Add another liter.

WARNING:

Too little or too much transmission fluid will impair the transmission.

Drain plug tightening specification: 45 Nm
