Robinair A/C Service Unit ROB 134APF or succeeding model.

Removing

-- Extract refrigerant circuit using ROB 134APF, only then open the refrigerant circuit.

-- Observe notes, refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT COMPONENTS, ENGINE COMPARTMENT, 2 ZONE AND 4 ZONE .

-- Remove the instrument panel. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Remove air intake shroud. Refer to INTAKE HOUSING .

-- Remove the expansion valve. Refer to EXPANSION VALVE, FRONT .

-- Remove all air ducts to heating and A/C unit.

-- Place VAS 6208 under the engine.

WARNING:

Contact with hot engine coolant can cause severe scalding.

The cooling system is pressurized and the coolant temperature can be above 100 °C (212 °F) with a warm engine.

If necessary, reduce pressure and temperature before repairs.

-- Drain engine cooling circuit. Refer to [For engine(s) AXQ] General Information or refer to [For engine(s) CATA] General Information or refer to [For engine(s) BHK] General Information or refer to [For engine(s) BAR] General Information or refer to [For engine(s) BWF] General Information .

WARNING:

There is a danger of ice-up.

Refrigerant leaks out if refrigerant circuit is not discharged.

Refrigerant must be extracted before opening the refrigerant circuit. If the refrigerant circuit is not opened within 10 minutes after extracting it, pressure may build up in the circuit again. The refrigerant must be extracted again.

-- Loosen refrigerant lines at screws -1-.

-- Loosen coolant hoses at heater core. Refer to HEATER CORE .

-- Disconnect condensation water drain hose from heating and A/C unit.

-- Disconnect harness connectors from the heating and A/C unit.

-- Remove the subframe. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Loosen nuts -1- on the engine compartment side from the heating and A/C unit.

-- Remove heating and A/C unit.

Installing

Install in reverse order.

-- Replace refrigerant line O-rings.

Torque of refrigerant line screws to expansion valve is 10 ± 1 Nm.

NOTE:

When installing, ensure condensation water hose is seated correctly and not kinked.
