Transmission, Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. However, important steps should be named here:

-- Inspect the crankshaft needle bearing in the crankshaft. If it is damaged or has blue tarnish, it must be replaced. Refer to CRANKSHAFT NEEDLE BEARINGS .

-- If it is not damaged, lubricate lightly with high-temperature grease G 052 133 A2.

-- Transmission pins (not splines) must also be lightly lubricated.

-- Make sure the alignment pins are seated correctly between the engine and transmission.

-- Check correct seating of the intermediate plate.

Engine and transmission must be brought together by hand until both flanges touch all around!

If this is not the case, the transmission will not run correctly!

-- Adjust the transmission mount bracket until the engine and transmission are aligned.

-- Rotate the crankshaft slightly if necessary.

-- Guide the selector lever cable into the mounting bracket as soon as possible.

Check the cable when raising the transmission. Do not fail to place it in bracket early.

Do not grease cable.

-- Selector lever cable lock washers must be replaced.

-- Always adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .

-- Check the coolant level and fill if necessary. Refer to GENERAL INFORMATION .

Tightening specifications, refer to FASTENER TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .
