Selector Mechanism Overview
WARNING:
Shift the selector lever into the "P" position and engage the parking brake before working while the engine running.
- Shift Cover with Knob
- The cover is unclipped for emergency release. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER EMERGENCY RELEASE .
- Before removing the knob, pull the button out past its pressure point and secure with cable ties or wire.
- Do not press the button in. Otherwise, the handle will have to be disassembled and prepared for installation. Refer to Figure

- With the shift lock solenoid.
- Emergency release, refer to SELECTOR LEVER EMERGENCY RELEASE .
- Short description for removal and installation:
-- Remove the center console.
-- Remove the cable from transmission. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE .
-- If necessary: Disconnect or remove the exhaust system components, refer to DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .
-- Remove the heat shield from the bottom of the vehicle.
-- Adjust the selector lever cable after installing. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .
- Bolt and Spring
- 3 Nm.
- Pin
- Removing, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE .
- Do not grease.
- Securing Plate
- Always replace after removing.
- Nut, 9 Nm
- Quantity: 4.
- Shift Housing
- With seal
- Retaining Washer
- Always replace after removing.
- Retaining Washer
- Always replace after removing.
- Selector Lever Cable
- Do not grease.
- Removing and installing, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE .
- Checking, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING .
- Adjusting, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .
- Nut, 8 Nm
- Quantity: 4.
