Locking Cable, Removing And Installing: Installing

- Locking cable must not be kinked.
- Adjust locking cable after installing. Refer to Locking cable, adjusting .
- Guide locking cable between heater - 3 - and footwell vent - 1 - behind instrument panel support - 2 -.
- Move selector lever to "P" position.
- Pull locking cable out of cable sleeve slightly and hook into locking lever - arrow B -.
- Hook support bracket for locking cable into selector bracket.
- Push locking cable into steering lock, refer to Pull out clip .
When doing this, make sure flattened side of locking cable is pointing downwards.
- Push on clip - 2 - of locking cable - 3 -.
Installation position:
Push on clip from above. The angled ends of clip face steering lock
- Ensure that clip is properly engaged.
- Adjust locking cable, refer to Locking cable, adjusting .
- Check operation of ignition key removal lock. Refer to Ignition key withdrawal lock, checking operation .
- Install center console. Refer to 68 - INTERIOR EQUIPMENT .
- Install selector lever handle.
- Install left trim beneath instrument panel. Refer to 68 - INTERIOR EQUIPMENT .
- Install steering column trim. Refer to 70 - INTERIOR TRIM .
- Install handle for adjusting reach and height of steering column.
- Install steering wheel and airbag. Refer to 69 - PASSENGER PROTECTION - AIRBAGS, SEAT BELTS .
- Connect earth strap to battery.
- Enter radio code. Refer to 91 RADIO, TELEPHONE, NAVIGATION, TRIP COMPUTER .
