General Information: Generator
Application and Safety Notes
CAUTION:
If assembly work is performed on generator, note the following:
- Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.
- Disconnect the battery. Refer to DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT or DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERIES IN LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT .
Follow the procedure in the Repair Information when disconnecting and connecting the battery. Refer to DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT or DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERIES IN LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT .
DTC Recognition and Display
For fault-finding, use the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System -VAS 5051A-, and the function "Guided fault finding" Refer to GENERATOR, CHECKING .
NOTE:
Check the generator.
Description of Work
- Securing B+ wire to generator, refer to B+ CABLE MOUNT ON GENERATOR .
- Generator checking, refer to GENERATOR, CHECKING .
- Generator voltage regulator, refer to VOLTAGE REGULATOR, BOSCH or VOLTAGE REGULATOR, VALEO .
- Generator, 2.0L TSI engine, refer to GENERATOR .
- Generator, 3.2L fuel injection engine, refer to GENERATOR .
- Ribbed belt, checking, refer to RIBBED BELT, CHECKING .
- Generator ribbed belt pulley, removing and installing, refer to RIBBED BELT PULLEY .
- Ribbed belt routing. Refer to [For transmission(s) 02E] [For engine(s) BUB] RIBBED BELT or [For engine(s) BPY] RIBBED BELT or [For engine(s) CCTA, CBFA] RIBBED BELT .
- Torque specifications: Generator, refer to GENERAL TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS , 2.0L GENERATOR TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS or 3.2L GENERATOR TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .
