Electronic Brake Control Module: Service and Repair

ABS control module (w/EDL) -J104- (Bosch 5.3), removing and installing
Removing:





The control unit is located under the right-hand floor carpet on the front passenger's side.
^ Slide right-hand front seat back completely.
^ Remove A pillar trim in right footwell.
^ Pull right-hand side sill panel strip off sill panel.
^ Pull front right floor carpet back until the ABS/ESP control module in area of bulkhead is free.





^ Remove the two securing nuts (arrows).
^ Take out control module with protective housing.
^ Remove protective housing securing screws.
^ Remove control module.





^ Press locking device in direction of arrow to release connector.

Installing:
^ Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence
^ Tightening torque of securing nuts for control module with protective housing to bulkhead is 9 Nm.
