Starting Interlock Relay J207, Checking

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• New Beetle, refer to appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAM

-- Remove cover in driver's side footwell Removal and Installation .

-- Turn ignition key to position "start".

-- Move selector lever from "S" to "P" and back.

Starting Interlock Relay -J207- must activate audibly and sensible to touch.

As long as there is no malfunction, starter can be operated in selector lever position "N" or "P".

If relay does not trigger:

-- Check Starting Interlock Relay -J207- and wire connections according to wiring diagram.
