Exhaust/Engine Controls - DTC P1176 Stored in Memory

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1176 is Stored in DTC Memory

Model(s):
New Beetle 1.8T (Engine code APH) 1999 --> 2001

Condition

DTC P1176 stored in DTC memory.

Service

Important:
DO NOT replace the oxygen sensor or catalytic converter due to DTC P1176.

- Correct any other engine related DTCs. Check exhaust system for leaks and ensure the following:

- Slip clamp at rear of converter is sealed.

- Header pipe seal is sealed.

- Both 02 sensors are seated correctly, are not leaking or drawing any air.

- Vehicle maintenance is not overdue.

Tip:

Cost of maintenance is not covered by warranty.





If the ECM Part No. is old, as listed below, replace ECM per Repair Manual, use appropriate SRT

- Set readiness code.





When procedure applies to vehicles within the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, use the table.
