SERVICE INFORMATION
Eurovan, ESP Steering Angle Sensor Adaptation
When replacing the steering angle sensor, you may run into a coding issue with the ABS module. The new replacement steering angle sensor part number is 7D0 959 654 with revision index A15 (printed on the part). The old part has the same part number except the revision number is A13. The new part causes the ABS coding to revert back to "0" when attempting to adapt the steering angle sensor. Code the steering angle sensor twice instead of only one time, before setting Basic Settings.
Perform the following procedure:
- Center the steering wheel.
- Turn the ignition ON.
- Enter Vehicle Self Diagnosis/OBD.
- Go to Address Word 03 - Brakes/ABS.
- Select Access Authorization and enter login number 07669.
- Select Coding and enter code 06639.
- Re-enter access authorization and re-enter login number 07669.
- Re-enter Coding and re-enter 06639 (You should see the two codings 06639(06639) in the upper right corner of the scan tool).
- Turn steering wheel one turn to the right and one turn to the left.
- Enter Access Authorization and enter login number 40168.
- Go to Basic Settings.
- Enter Group 001.
- The display should read "sensor OK" if the procedure was successful.
NOTE:
The ABS, ESP and brake lights will remain on until the scan tool is disconnected from the diagnostic plug. If the procedure was performed successfully no faults will be stored in 03-ABS.
