Inspection Service
Front disc brake pads:
- Remove a wheel to check pad thickness. Mark position of wheel relative to brake disc so wheel can be reinstalled in the same position following check.NOTE: Brake pad wear may be minimally greater on the front passenger's side than on the driver's side. Because of this, it is recommended that inspection is performed on passenger's side front wheel.
- Measure thickness of outer and inner pads.
Dimension -a- = pad thickness including backing plate
Wear limit = 7 mm (0.28 in.)
If pad thickness (incl. backing plate) is 7 mm (0.28 in.) or less, the brake pads have reached or exceeded the wear limit and should be replaced.
- Tighten wheel bolts to 110 N.m (81 ft lb).
Rear disc brakes pads:
NOTE:
It is not necessary to remove a wheel for rear brake pad inspection.
- Visually inspect thickness of outer and inner brake pads.
- View through opening in wheel
- Use a flashlight and mirror if necessary

Drum brake linings:
- Check thickness of brake linings through inspection holes in the brake carrier plates -arrow-.
Wear limit (lining only): 2.5 mm (0.10 in.)
- Check linings for contamination with brake fluid or grease.
