1997 TDI Diesel
If a 1997 TDI diesel has detected a 1551 fault of 00560, remove vacuum hose and apply vacuum to EGR valve using a hand held vacuum pump until EGR valve "pops". Clean EGR valve shaft and seat using brake cleaner spray and wipe off any residue. Use engine oil to lubricate the EGR valve shaft and seat assembly. Clear 1551 fault and drive for 10 miles on highway to verify that EGR valve is functioning properly and that the MIL does not come on.
