Preparation For Trouble Shooting

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 12-pin connector at cruise control module (behind center console). Install Test Adapter (VAG 1466/8) to wiring harness 12-pin connector. Connect Electrical Circuit Tester (VAG 1466) to test adapter and then insert to steering.
  2. On vehicles with automatic transmission, the cruise control module is supplied with power if the speed exceeds 18 MPH. An additional power source is needed for trouble shooting.
  3. Supply additional power source as follows: Disconnect connector, which comes from fuse No. 51 (5-amp), behind fuse/relay panel. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Remove dual horn relay from fuse/relay panel. Connect jumper wire, from Connector Test Kit (VW 1594), with the separate Black wire above fuse/relay panel and contact No. 1 from location No. 11 (terminal No. 15).
