EGR Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation

The Air Temperature Sensor which is located at the rear of the intake manifold near the EGR valve, senses the temperature of the air within the intake manifold. Since the introduction of exhaust gases into the intake system increases the temperature of the incoming air, the CIS-E Motronic control unit can determine by the information provided by the sensor whether or not the EGR valve is opening at the appropriate times.
