Fuel Injectors
Fuel injectors are located in the swirl chambers. They are protected from combustion chamber temperatures by a heat shield. As fuel delivery valves open, fuel pressure from injection pump forces the needle up against spring pressure. Fuel injector sprays a cone-shaped spray of fuel at the precise time ignition is to occur. A small amount of fuel bleeds around injector needle to cool injector. This fuel is then circulated back to fuel tank. See Fig 1 .
