Pedal Travel

  1. Hook a tape measure over top of clutch pedal pad. Tape hook to pad to hold it in place. Pull tape through steering wheel and record measurement at centerline of wheel rim.
  2. Press clutch pedal to floor with foot, using normal force for a shift while vehicle is stationary. Record measurement at centerline of wheel rim. If difference between 2 measurements is 4.6" (117 mm) or more, no further adjustments are necessary.
  3. If difference is less than 4.6" (117 mm), adjustments to floor covering will be necessary. Remove push nut from stud behind pedal bracket. Remove left hand scuff plate from driver's door.
  4. Separate carpet from floor mat in wheel house, floor and toe pan areas on driver's side. With heel of shoe, push carpet into pocket formed by wheelhouse, floorpan and dash where clutch pedal bottoms out against floor pan.
  5. Lay carpet back into position and measure to see if required amount of travel has been obtained. If so, finish by tucking carpet under hinge pillar and scuff plate.
  6. If clutch pedal travel is still short of 4.6" (117 mm), pull back carpet again and cut away portion of floor deadener that is between floorpan and area where pedal bottoms out. Reinstall carpet by pressing into pocket and reinstall trim pieces.
